Background
Earth Hour started in Sydney in 2007 as a call to action to every individual, every business and every community throughout the world to stand up, and lead the global journey to a sustainable future.

Every year people around the world turn off their lights for one hour, Earth Hour, to take a stand and show how by working together we can make a difference. In 2012, Earth Hour will take place on Saturday, 31 March, 8.30 pm - 9.30 pm.
